Statistics of Nationwide Energy Production in December and 2023 Electricity Industry
Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released the production data for energy in December 2023, while the National Energy Administration issued the statistical data for the electric power industry in 2023. In 2023, the total electricity consumption nationwide reached 92,241 billion kilowatt-hours, marking a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. Among this, the electricity generation from large-scale industrial enterprises amounted to 89,091 billion kilowatt-hours. By the end of December 2023, the cumulative installed capacity for power generation across the country reached approximately 2.92 billion kilowatts, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 13.9%. Notably, the installed capacity for solar power generation was about 610 million kilowatts, showing a year-on-year increase of 55.2%, wind power installed capacity was around 440 million kilowatts, with a year-on-year growth of 20.7%, and hydropower installed capacity was 420 million kilowatts, experiencing a 1.8% year-on-year increase. In December 2023, the national industrial electricity generation amounted to 829 billion kilowatt-hours, reflecting an 8.0% year-on-year growth. The growth rate slowed by 0.4 percentage points compared to November, with a daily average electricity generation of 267.4 billion kilowatt-hours. The growth rates for hydropower, wind power, and solar power generation showed a decline.
