2024 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition—Finals for Engineering Surveyors Held Successfully in Guiyang

From October 11 to 14, the 2024 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition—Finals for Engineering Surveyors from POWERCHINA and Energy China were successfully held at the Hydropower Science and Technology Park of Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited. The competition was approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and co-hosted by the China Employment Training Technical Instruction Center, POWERCHINA, and Energy China, with the China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Association and Guiyang Engineering Corporation serving as organizers.

 

 

On October 12, the opening ceremony was held at Guiyang Engineering Corporation's Science and Technology Convention Center. Attendees included POWERCHINA Deputy Party Secretary and Director Yao Huan, Energy China Youth League Secretary, Deputy Director of the Party-Mass Work Department, and Deputy Chairman of the Trade Union Du Juanjuan, Deputy Director of Guizhou Surveying and Mapping Quality Supervision and Inspection Station Yao Yong, and Guiyang Engineering Corporation Party Secretary and Chairman Wu Jianxue, among other leaders. The ceremony was presided over by the CEPPEA's Acting Secretary-General Zhang Bingcheng.

 

 

Zhang Bingcheng emphasized that the competition aimed to inspire employees to hone their skills, promote the development of skilled talent, and foster a spirit of dedication and craftsmanship. It also aimed to create a positive environment that values labor, skills, and innovation, providing a platform for outstanding talent to emerge and supporting the sustainable development of enterprises.

 

 

Yao Huan highlighted the importance of a skilled workforce, noting that vocational skills competitions help implement national strategies to cultivate high-quality technical talent, skilled artisans, and master craftsmen, while fostering a talent system that supports industrial development.

 

Du Juanjuan stressed that as a national-level competition, the event attracted wide participation. She hoped it would stimulate employees to improve their skills and professionalism, foster a culture that values excellence, and accelerate the development of a knowledgeable, skilled, and innovative workforce.

 

 

The competition featured 76 teams, comprising 228 contestants from 37 POWERCHINA units, 32 Energy China units, and seven association member units. The four-day event included theoretical exams, fourth-order leveling, and 1:500 digital mapping. Contestants demonstrated their skills and teamwork during the practical measurement competition. The competition was jointly adjudicated by POWERCHINA and Energy China, ensuring fairness and transparency.

 

 

 

After two days of intense competition, the finals concluded on October 14. Awards were presented to the top teams and individuals by Yao Yong, who also provided technical commentary. Winners included Sinohydro Bureau 7, Guiyang Engineering Corporation, Sinohydro Bureau 8, and Sinohydro Bureau 5 in the POWERCHINA team category, while Gezhouba Group Investigation & Design Company Limited, Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute Company Limited, Jiangsu Power Design Institute Company Limited, and Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute Company Limited won in the Energy China team category.

 

 

In the closing ceremony, Wang Chenghai, POWERCHINA Trade Union Chairman, emphasized that the competition provided a platform for showcasing skills and promoting excellence, while fostering a culture of dedication and craftsmanship.

 

 

Energy China Party Committee Member and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission Li Ziyong summarized the event, praising the innovative competition model. He underscored the importance of continuing to develop a long-term vocational skills competition mechanism and promoting a system that recognizes and incentivizes skilled talent.

 

During the competition, a technical seminar on "Smart Domestic Survey Equipment Empowering New Productivity in the Power Industry" was also held. Over 500 leaders, judges, team leaders, and contestants participated in the event.
