2024 Seminar on the Development Path of New Power Systems and Collaborative Technology between Generation-Grid-Load-Storage Held

From August 15 to 16, the "2024 Seminar on the Development Path of New Power Systems and Collaborative Technology between Generation-Grid-Load-Storage " was successfully held in Xining. The event was jointly hosted by the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Association(CEPPEA), the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute(EPPEI), and the State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company, and organized by the Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (NWEPDI)  of China Power Engineering Consulting Group.

 

The seminar was chaired by Li Aimin, Executive Vice Chairman of the CEPPEA. Key attendees included Yu Xiongfai, Deputy Director of the Qinghai Provincial Energy Administration, who delivered a speech, and Li Zhigang, Vice General Manager of the NWEPDI, who gave opening remarks. Yao Qiang, Chairman of the CEPPEA, Zhang Bicheng, Acting Secretary General of the CEPPEA, and Zhang Jietan, Chief Engineer of the State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company, were also present.

 

The seminar featured four keynote speeches and ten specialized presentations covering various aspects of building a new power system. Chairman Yao shared forward-looking insights on the development path for the new power system, offering strategic guidance for county-level systems. Liu Qiang, Director of the Electric Power Development Research Institute, EPPEI, explained the national energy authority's phased goals and tasks, providing policy insights for the industry. Zhang Yiguo, Vice President of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute(CREEI), analyzed the characteristics and trends of the renewable energy sector, offering guidance for future expansion. Li Hongxia, President of Qinghai Energy Research Institute, shared pioneering practices in building new power systems within Qinghai, one of three provincial demonstration zones under the State Grid.

 

 

Technical presentations were delivered by NARI Group Corporation and Wuhan University on cutting-edge innovations in key power system equipment. A tailored "Xining New Power System Plan," was presented by the EPPEI, while the CREEI and China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (GEDI) shared updates on hydrogen-based energy and offshore wind power transmission planning. Notable academic institutions such as Tsinghua University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, NWEPDI, and others presented research on planning methodologies, offering new insights for industry innovation.

 

Participants also toured Qinghai's Clean Energy and Green Computing Power Dispatch Center. The tour showcased the province’s renewable energy progress and its achievements in green power consumption.

 

 

In closing, Acting Secretary General Zhang Bicheng summarized the event, emphasizing the importance of building platforms for industry collaboration. He called on member units to expand these platforms to foster exchange, spark new ideas, and promote technological advancements that will support national energy policies with intellectual resources.
