On October 17, the 84 MW Ivovik Wind Power Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, contracted by POWERCHINA Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited under an EPC agreement, successfully achieved full capacity grid connection. This marks the official commencement of operations for the first wind power project in Europe built by Power Construction Corporation of China. The project is a key achievement in the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries and stands as another successful example of green energy collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the project implementation, the Chengdu team faced numerous challenges, including the severe impact of the international COVID-19 pandemic, complex land rights processing, scarce construction resources, and long winter stoppages. Throughout the high-quality construction process, Chinese and local engineers and workers collaborated closely, ensuring the project’s safe and efficient progress while adhering to strict environmental protection standards and ensuring harmony with the natural surroundings.

The wind turbines, standing tall against the blue sky and green landscape, provide Bosnia and Herzegovina with a clean and reliable source of electricity. Their striking appearance has also become a new landmark, attracting numerous tourists for visits and photos, adding a vibrant touch to the region. The successful grid connection of the Ivovik Wind Power Project is of significant importance for optimizing Bosnia's energy structure and promoting high-quality economic and social development. It also sets an exemplary model for deeper green energy cooperation between China, Bosnia, and broader Central and Eastern European countries.

The Ivovik Wind Power Project is located in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, between the cities of Livno and Tomislavgrad, and consists of 20 direct-drive wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW. Twelve turbines are located in Livno, and eight are in Tomislavgrad. The project also includes a 110 kV step-up substation, four 35 kV collection lines, and a 1.65 km 110 kV transmission line, all directly connected to the national grid of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
