On December 7th, Report on China’s Power Grid Engineering Technology Development 2021 issuing conference and the fifth national power grid technical exchange meeting, jointly sponsored by the China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute(shorted as EPPEI) and China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Association(shorted as CPPEA), was convened in Beijing at the joint conference way of "online" and "offline". Mr. Du Zhongming, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of EPPEI, delivered the welcome speech. Mr. Hu Ming, the deputy Party Committee Secretary and General manager of EPPEI presided over the meeting. Mr. Li Xilai, the member of the CPC Committee and the chief engineer of EPPEI, presided over the presentation session of the keynote report. Representatives from National Energy Administration, China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd, State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Company Limited, Inner Mongolia Power(Group) Co.,Ltd and other groups and companies of power industry attended the meeting.

Liu Yafang, Deputy Director of Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment Department of National Energy Administration had given the speech. She fully confirmed the achievements made in the development of China power grid. In addition, to safeguard energy security and cope with climate change, National Energy Administration proposed specific requirements to “Double Carbon” work from four perspectives: accelerating the utilization of clean energy, upgrading energy consumption patterns, strengthening the clean and low-carbon technology research and promulgating relevant politics. She highly praised the contribution that EPPEI made to gathering national excellent grid technical experts, actively exploring technological, industrial and business model innovation, and jointly seeking for the development of new electric power system.

Wu Yun, the member of CPC Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd.(shorted as ENERGY CHINA), pointed out that "3060" is a major national strategy proposed by the CPC Central upon deeply thought out, which ENERGY CHINA rapidly responded to and researched at. After that, the white paper “Practicing the ‘3060’ strategic goal action plan” was published by ENERGY CHINA to deploy follow-up practice. This meeting is about the implementation of the white paper. He said that EPPEI was expected to give full play to its technical consulting advantages and its influences as the industrial think tank, continue to make advice to achieve the strategic goal “3060”, and constantly promote scientific & technological progress and innovation in the power industry.

Du Zhongming delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizer. He emphasized the importance of power grid technology innovation to realize the “3060” carbon target, pointed out the developing orientation of China's power grid technology, expounded the prominent features and functions of the power grid think tank report, and sincerely hoped that this meeting would be a platform to promote the innovation and development of power grid technology. With the development vision of "energy and national think tank", the strategic orientation of "building a world-class energy think tank and international consulting company" and the core concept of “science and truth, objectivity and fairness, liberalization and innovation, win-win cooperation", EPPEI would provide high-quality think tank products and services to the government, industry and society by continuously promoting the energy revolution, accelerating energy transformation and helping achieve high-quality development. Finally, he thanked the National Energy Administration and relevant departments for their care and guidance to the EPPEI for many years.

Ge Zhaojun, Li Qingjiang and Liang Jingkun, on behalf of STATE GRID, CHINA SOUTHERN POWER GRID and Inner Mongolia Power Co., Ltd. respectively, put forward their unique ideas to the construction of new electric power systems based on new energy sources in China and new requirements for the power grid technology development.

Hu Ming presided over the meeting. He briefly reported the preparation of this meeting, introduced and welcomed the leaders and guests of the attendees. Hu Ming said that, to respond to the new requirements for the transformation and upgrading of power industry under “3060” strategic goal, and to contribute to the development and construction of power industry in "14th Five-Year Plan", EPPEI had compiled the Report on China’s Power Grid Engineering Technology Development 2021 for the first time and invited leaders and experts in the field of power grid in China to conduct discussion focusing on multiple hot spots in the development of power grid projects on the subject of “Power Grid Technology Innovation in the context of the ‘3060’strategic goals”.

At the meeting, the EPPEI issued the Report on China’s Power Grid Engineering Technology Development 2021. The report, which provides reference for the state and local government authorities, power enterprises and relevant organizations to comprehensively understand and grasp the development trend of power grid engineering technologies in China, summarizes the achievements made in the power grid engineering technical field in China during the "13th Five-Year Plan", studies and judges the key technologies of new power system in the future, and displays the latest research results and important opinions of EPPEI. This report is based on rich engineering practices and innovative cases with accompanying illustrations, and explains in simple language. The content involves new technology of power grid, new equipment and materials, standards of engineering construction.

Li Liying, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chen Weijiang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and He Jinliang, the professor of Electrical Machine Department of Tsinghua University, gave the lectures on the subject of “Building the Transparent Grid to Support the Construction of a New Power System”, “Flexible and low-frequency AC Transmission Technology”, and “Recyclable and Low-carbon Power Cable Technology” respectively. Later, three forums were discussed during the meeting: Large-scale Renewable Energy Delivery Technology, Digital and Intelligent Technology of Power Grid, and Key Energy-based Internet Technology.
